Sophomore Cora Neal (Monmouth, Ill./Monmouth-Roseville) scored 14 points, but Southeastern pulled away in the second half to defeat the Carl Sandburg College women’s basketball team 71-49 on Tuesday night.

Neal went 5 of 10 from the floor, including a pair of 3-pointers, to finish as the lone player in double figures for the Chargers (5-5). Faith Price (Springfield, Ill./Lanphier) added eight off the bench, and freshman Kelsi Legge (Galesburg, Ill./Galesburg) had six points and five rebounds for Sandburg.

The Chargers trailed 9-7 after a quarter and 34-26 at halftime, but the Blackhawks pushed their lead to 51-36 after the third period.

The loss was the first for Sandburg in five road games this season.

Shaniya Caldwell scored a game-high 19 for Southeastern (6-6) — with 11 of those points coming on 12 free-throw attempts — in addition to seven rebounds, five assists and four steals. Sasha Saccheus added 17 for the Blackhawks.
